Fall Women’s So-Fit

Women’s Soccer Fitness (So-Fit) 2012 Fall Program

The Ottawa Internationals S.C. offers mothers, aunts and older sisters of club members and anyone else who is interested the opportunity to improve their fitness level and learn more about the game of soccer.

The sessions are based on fitness training, soccer skills and friendly scrimmages. There is no prerequisite for knowing the game of soccer or its rules and beginners are most welcome. Training will be conducted by qualified instructors under the guidance of our Club Head Coach, Roy Hillier MPE  and  MBE.

Coaches from the Ottawa Internationals put the players through some drills: passing, receiving passes, kicking, heading and controlling the ball. They then learn some tactics in game play: give and go, moving to space, crossing the ball and attacking the net.

The program will be held on Saturdays from 9:30a.m. to 11:30am beginning Saturday, Sept. 15th and running for 6 weeks to Saturday, Oct. 27th. There will be no session on the Thanksgiving long weekend which is Sat Oct. 6th.  All sessions will be held on our artificial turf field at Franco Cite on Smyth Road. Players must bring a ball and have jerseys which can be purchased.

First time jitters are common at So-Fit, and they usually last about 5 minutes, or as long it takes to kick a ball a few times, make your first pass or master the fine art of dribbling between pylons. With all the women learning skills and rules together there is no pressure to perform and lots of support and coaching. The expert takes 1,000 hours of soccer practice to make an accomplished player. It usually takes less than 1 hour of So-Fit soccer for a participant to get hooked on the game.  As a by-product, women become fitter, sorer but happier.

The cost is $60 which does not include a required soccer ball.

Women So-Fit jerseys are also priced separately.

If you are interested in purchasing a uniform or a soccer ball ($15) , please contact Dave Dolan at dave.dolan@sympatico.ca.
