Men’s Soccer Skills 2012 Program

Building on the success of our Women’s So-Fit program, this summer the Ottawa Internationals will be offering a similar program designed for men.

The program is targeted for beginning soccer players or players returning to the game.

Fathers, uncles and older brothers of club members, or any man that is interested, have an opportunity to learn how to play soccer and improve their overall fitness level.

The program will run for 20 weeks commencing on Sunday April 15th and running through to September 2nd and will be held on our new artificial turf field located at Hillcrest High School on Smyth Road from  8 AM to 10 AM.

The two-hour sessions concentrate on soccer skills and fitness training. There is no prerequisite for knowing the game of soccer or its rules. Beginners are most welcome. Training will be conducted by qualified instructors under the guidance of our Club Head Coach, Roy Hillier MPE and MBE.

The instructors put the players through some fundamental drills: passing, receiving, shooting, dribbling, ball control, and heading. The players will also learn some tactics in game play: give and go, moving into space, crossing the ball, and attacking the net.

The cost for this 20 week program is only $195, which includes HST. Players new to the program will also be required to purchase an inexpensive uniform set, including 2 numbered jerseys (one red and one white) and a pair of shorts and socks in order to quickly make teams for the scrimmages. There is a section on the registration form to order uniforms. All players are required to bring a fully inflated size 5 soccer ball to each session. Balls can be obtained from the club through the registration process for $15. Players will need to have soccer cleats as well as shin pads.
